The first European settlers arrived in North America over 400 years ago, establishing early communities on the Bay of Fundy shores. The struggle between the British and the French for control of this region — and the emergence of ship-building and the coastal economy that followed — is told in the museums and national historic sites around the Bay of Fundy.
